The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine released initial findings from a nationwide survey on gambling participation and public attitudes. The research, involving 3,164 adults, was carried out by the Center for Responsible Gaming with backing from the Association of Ukrainian Gaming Operators.
Key Findings on Player Behavior
Participation rates show that 5% of respondents engaged in gambling over the past year, while only 2% played within the last month. Regarding personal habits, 84% do not identify as gamblers, compared to 15% who do.
The data indicates that 83% stopped playing after their initial experience, with 65% losing interest and 23% citing financial constraints. An additional 10% quit due to concerns about addiction. Overall, 83% reported no negative consequences from gambling, and 93% never lent money to acquaintances for betting purposes.
Public opinion demonstrates strong support for industry oversight, with 75% viewing gambling as a significant national challenge. Specifically, 48% prioritize advertising restrictions, 74% back enhanced addiction safeguards, and 67% favor strict state regulation. Furthermore, 78% believe unlicensed casinos damage the economy.
The ministry plans to release additional data to further examine player behavior and responsible gaming measures, according to iGaming News.
